IYA is indebted to the volunteers who give their free time in providing opportunities for children and young people.

In promoting children and young people, volunteers approach should:

​

• Act as good role models

• Encourage and be positive during activities and sport activities so that participate can leave with a sense of achievement

• Set challenging but achievable goals

• Plan and prepare each session appropriately and ensure proper levels of supervision.

• Ensure that all activities are inclusive and allow all members to participate.

• During sport activities place paramount importance upon the welfare and enjoyment of the participate, not winning or achieving results.

• Apply the principles of fair play, treating each participate equally with dignity and respect, and ensuring that all participate play within the rules of the sport activities.

• Be aware of the developmental stages and needs of children and young people.
