As Belfast settles into autumn, the clock change offers a small opportunity to pause. On Sunday 25 October, clocks go back from 2am BST to 1am GMT. Alongside adjusting the clocks, we can take a moment to consider how we spend our days and who we make time for.

“There are two blessings that many people are deceived into losing: health and free time.”

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Sahih al-Bukhari 6412

Build your day around salah

A change in routine is a useful moment to check the prayer timetable and plan ahead. Think about work, school and travel, and make space for each prayer. Check the masjid’s current jama’ah times before setting out.

Make a little room for the Qur’an

Begin with something you can return to: a few verses, a short passage with its meaning, or a little listening followed by reflection. Choose a regular moment in your day. If you are learning, ask for help and allow yourself time to grow.

Give your family your attention

Put the phone aside for a shared meal, ask someone how their day has been, or call a relative you have been meaning to contact. An ordinary evening can become meaningful when we make room to listen. Rest and unhurried time together deserve a place in our plans too.

Reach out to someone

Consider a neighbour, an older relative, a student away from home or someone new to Belfast. A message, a cup of tea or an invitation to join you can be a thoughtful start. Ask what would help, and offer what you can realistically manage.

Start small and keep going

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught the value of deeds maintained consistently, even when small (Sahih al-Bukhari 6464). Choose one manageable action and connect it to a familiar part of your day. If you miss a day, begin again.

An extra hour. A thoughtful new beginning.

About your reminder settings

Reminders are optional and apply to this browser or installed app only. We store its notification subscription and your chosen prayers and timing so we can send reminders. No name, email or location is needed. Turning reminders off removes that subscription from our server.

These reminders always use Ihsan’s Belfast timetable, including when you travel. Keep using the prayer timetable if an alert is delayed or missed.
